Terms Of Service
The terms on which this website and our therapy services are provided. Last updated 13 August 2026.
1. Who we are
This website is owned and operated by UK Gambling Therapy (“we”, “us”), a therapy practice based in Manchester, United Kingdom, with a correspondence address at 2nd Floor, 82 King Street, Manchester, M2 4WQ, United Kingdom. The practice was established in 2026. You can contact us at hello@ukgamblingtherapy.co.uk or on 0161 496 0184.
2. Accepting these terms
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the website. We may update these terms from time to time; the version published here is the version that applies, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. Material changes affecting existing clients will also be notified to those clients directly.
3. This website is for adults in the UK
This website is intended for people aged 18 or over who are resident in the United Kingdom. Our therapy services are offered to adults only. If you are under 18 and worried about gambling, please speak to Big Deal, a free service run by GamCare specifically for young people, or call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.
4. What this website is — and is not
The content of this website is general information about gambling harm and the support available in the UK. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment plan, legal advice or regulated financial advice, and it does not create a therapeutic relationship between you and us. A therapeutic relationship begins only when you and a named clinician have agreed a written therapy contract.
The self-check tool on this website is a reflective aid adapted from a published screening instrument. It cannot diagnose anything. A high score does not mean you have a disorder and a low score does not mean you are safe.
This website must never be used to report an emergency. If life is in immediate danger, call 999. If you are in distress, Samaritans answer 116 123 at any hour.
5. No user-generated content
This website does not host user-generated content of any kind. There is no comment section, forum, message board, review form, rating widget, user profile or upload facility, and none is planned. Every word published here is written, edited and reviewed by our own clinical team. Recovery stories are clearly labelled illustrative composites written in house; they are not client testimonials, and we do not accept, solicit or publish testimonials.
The only information you can send us is an enquiry through our contact form or by email, which is private correspondence and is never published.
6. Our therapy services
Therapy is delivered by qualified clinicians registered with a recognised professional body and working within that body’s code of ethics. Before therapy begins you will receive a written therapy contract setting out the fee, the number of sessions, the cancellation terms and the limits of confidentiality. Nothing on this website varies that contract.
We reserve the right to decline or end a therapeutic relationship where we judge that we are not the appropriate service — for example where a person needs specialist NHS care, or where paying our fees would worsen financial harm. Where we decline, we will explain why and signpost you to a free alternative.
7. Fees, payment and cancellation
The initial 20-minute intake call is free and carries no obligation. Session fees are confirmed in writing before any booking is made. We do not use subscriptions, automatic renewal, or negative-option billing, and we never take payment during a first call. Cancellation terms are set out in your therapy contract. Where you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your right to cancel a distance contract for services within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
8. Confidentiality and its limits
What you tell a clinician is confidential. We would disclose information without your consent only where there is a serious and immediate risk to your life or to someone else’s, a risk of harm to a child or vulnerable adult, a disclosure required by law or by a court order, or an obligation arising under money-laundering or terrorism legislation. These limits are explained to you in full in your first session. Clinicians discuss anonymised case material in mandatory clinical supervision, which is a professional requirement.
9. Links to other organisations
We link to third-party organisations such as GamCare, GamStop, Gamblers Anonymous, BeGambleAware, Gordon Moody and the NHS for your convenience. We do not control those organisations, we are not responsible for their content or services, and a link is not an endorsement of everything they do. We receive no payment, commission or referral fee for any link on this website. Our reviews of these organisations are our own honest editorial opinion, held in good faith.
10. Intellectual property
All text, design, code and original graphics on this website are owned by us or licensed to us and are protected by copyright. You may read, print and share pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, sell or systematically copy our content without written permission.
Third-party names used on this website — including GamCare, GamStop, Gamblers Anonymous, BeGambleAware, Gordon Moody, StepChange and the NHS — are the trade marks of their respective owners and are used descriptively, to identify those organisations accurately when reviewing or signposting them. We do not reproduce any third-party logo artwork and we claim no affiliation with, endorsement by, or partnership with any of them. If you own a mark referenced here and object to its use, write to hello@ukgamblingtherapy.co.uk and we will respond promptly.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse this website: no attempting to gain unauthorised access, no introducing malicious code, no automated scraping that places an unreasonable load on our servers, and no use of the contact form to send unsolicited marketing, abusive material or content that is unlawful.
12. Availability
We aim to keep this website available at all times but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, withdraw or amend any part of it without notice, including for maintenance. Our support signposting is deliberately duplicated in plain text throughout the website so that a technical fault never leaves a visitor without a working helpline number.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on general information published on this website, or for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable. This does not affect our professional liability to clients under a therapy contract, which is separately insured.
14. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, tell us at hello@ukgamblingtherapy.co.uk and we will acknowledge within three working days and respond substantively within twenty working days. If you remain dissatisfied with the conduct of a clinician, you can complain directly to their professional body — BACP, BABCP, UKCP — each of which operates an independent complaints procedure that does not require our agreement.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
